Welcome to what God is doing new with SonChaser! This right here is definitely new. This is where Chris and I will post real time ministry updates and share our thoughts on what God is doing in our hearts. SonChaser has been around for 10 years, but the last 2 years has been the craziest. I felt God say at the beginning of 2020 to let it go, but I wasn't sure exactly what "it" was. We watched our world come to a grinding halt in 2020. Training sessions were canceled, mission trips crossed off the calendar, and right when we would have a great group of troupe members graduate out of our program. As we came into 2021, we felt a great sense of loss. We asked God lots of questions. What were we supposed to do? One of our pastors at our home church told us, "The only thing harder than leading a ministry through a pandemic was leading on out." We were about to go through some major growth in our ability to just listen and trust God.
"Behold, I'm making all things new!" Now we understand that God was talking about eternity when He spoke these words, but they have resonated in our hearts this year. What does it mean to be made new? I've had many conversations with our 9 year old son about this very idea. To make something new, doesn't mean you take the old and make it better. There's no up-cycling in the Kingdom of God. He doesn't just tweak something or brush off the dirt. He even told His disciples you can't put new wine into old wine skins. He throws out the old, guts the project, and starts over. Paul said, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is gone. Behold all things are made new." Sometimes this isn't easy. There are times in our life we feel gutted, stripped, and laid bare before God as He does His work in us. He is the Potter and we are the clay; washed, squeezed, and molded. Can we trust His handy work? Of course, He made all things and in Him all things are held together. Thank God He makes us new! I don't want Him to up-cycle me. So as we head into 2023, we look to Him to make all things new for us and for SonChaser. I've told Chris numerous times we are starting over; recruiting a new troupe, new missions to where we've never been, new website, and a new perspective on Who gives us our creativity. Starting over isn't so bad when your in the hands of the One who makes all things new!
